Artist Bio
HEAVY CHEVY throws down a tasty and powerful menu of soul & blues. Brian Chevalier cooks with his guitars, harmonicas and even pumps out some Louisiana-style zydeco on his squeezebox, adding spice to the musical gumbo. Janie Smith whips up some special sauce with her screaming and smoldering saxophone, pouring her tasty licks into every delicious tune. Darcy Lee, our new lead singer, sets the whole kitchen on fire with her incendiary vocal pyrotechnics. Fred Garner on bass and Julian Brogi on drums serve it all up with a thundering, fatback rhythm section, making Heavy Chevy a high-energy can't-miss meal of mouth-watering soul and blues!
Heavy Chevy has been performing together for about a year, but has been tearing up Oregon's Willamette Valley. They have been featured on stages at local venues as well as at major regional festivals - venues such as Mac's at the Vet's Club (Eugene's Home Of The Blues) and Sarver Winery - and festivals such as The Lowell Blackberry Jam and The Eugene Celebration Main Stage. Heavy Chevy has some serious momentum and you need to catch their act while they shift into high gear!
Brian Chevalier has been a featured solo artist (winner of the 2010 Eugene Rainy Day Blues Society “Muddy Road To Memphis” best solo blues performer) as well as featured with many music groups — Chevalier currently performs with Heavy Chevy, Voodoo Mountain Zydeco, The Rick Johnson Band and The Merry Pranksters’ Kwatro Kwartet — at various festivals and venues all over the Pacific Northwest, such as The Eugene Celebration, Taste of Tacoma, Enumclaw City Concert Series, Oregon City Concert Series, The Seattle Folklife Festival, Willamalane Island Park Concert Series, Ste Chapelle Winery Concert Series, Twin Falls Snake River Canyon Jam, Ashkenaz Music and Dance Center in Berkeley, The Chowder Blues and Brews Festival and Eugene's Earth Day Festival. He has also been a contributing composer/songwriter for the music library company DSM Producers in New York City.
